chairsMarcia Cooper is an artist currently living in Newton, Massachusetts. After receiving her undergraduate degree in art education, studio classes at Boston University reinforced her preference for contemporary painting. Since that time, her work has been enriched by additional study with Boston area artists.

The undulating folds in the fabric of the earth, appear in her imagined landscapes, as if woven with paint onto surreal architectural structures. Another series captures a sense of well being as friends pose, while interacting with each other and their seascape surroundings.

Marcia's painting titled Way to Go, was awarded First Prize in the Newton Art Association Annual Library Show 2011. Step into My Room was shown at the Danforth Museum in Framingham, Massachusetts in the 2011 Off the Wall exhibit. Her work is currently being shown at the Luck Art Gallery in Auburndale, Massachusetts. Other shows include: The Arnold Arboretum in Boston, Newton Art Association, Newton Open Studios, Holliston Mills Open Studios, DeCordova Student Gallery, and the Proctor Inn in Wrentham, Massachusetts.
